Founded in 2009 by Architects Dermot Harrington & Paul Carpenter, Cook Architects is an award-winning, design-led RIAI Architecture Practice based in Cork City.
Our portfolio of works vary from high end bespoke houses & multi housing projects to commercial & educational buildings.
To achieve an outstanding product, Cook Architects provide a full service from feasibility, planning & architectural design to construction project supervision which includes interior design. Our client base is made up of repeat business and projects commissioned through recommendations & competitions.
Our designs — often bold & contemporary — are underpinned by an interplay of imagination and technical rigour, mostly accompanied with an element of surprise in their concept and delivery. The spaces we create are engaging and well used, created by carefully listening and understanding our client’s requirements during the design process.

Cook Architects designed our home, secured planning and oversaw construction - from beginning to end. Their design concepts made exceptional use of space and light on a very tight site, while all the time maximising the positives, particularly the view. We began working with Cook Architects from as early as site evaluation until completion of a new domestic build. With a clear vision of what we wanted Cook Architects reviewed all our wish list & challenged us on design & future proofing if required but also gave us excellent advice on construction issues & practicalities. They created a very comprehensive invitation to tender which had a huge amount of information & detailed specifications - this forced us to consider the big ticket items very early on and prevented any rushed decisions resulting in an unexpected permanent fixture afterwards. This level of detail also ensured we got a clear breakdown of costs but more importantly avoided any conflict on responsibilities with the chosen contractor further on in the build. We completed with minimum variations & change orders. Cook Architects also managed our build schedule & continued the focus to meet the deadlines outlined in our builders contract. Cook Architects were always on time, extremely professional & efficient. Again when any final milestones were approaching they gave us ample time to review and sign off on the design specifications – we were very glad of this as deadlines approached. We would not hesitate in working with Cook Architects again and we very much appreciated his attention to detail on ‘our forever’ home. We are delighted with the end product.
